People-Driven City 2019

This course is part of ‘Lähiöfest’ – a festival of neighbourhoods that aims to create discussion and catalyse new initiatives to empower locality in cities. The festival has been organised bi-annually since 2015 in different cities. Aalto University has the pleasure to collaborate with the festival already for the second time.

The course is multidisciplinary, combining urban design, service design and business models.

The course precedes an international conference/seminar called ‘People-Driven City’ that will take place on Friday the 27th of September in Dipoli in Otaniemi, that is our campus.

The themes will be learning in the city (the festival has an extensive program with schools and education organizations) and new models of combining “top-down” and “bottom-up” city development.

The design task of the course will be developed together with

Michel Rojkind, Rojkind Arquitectos / Wework / We Company, who will also be a Special Critic in the course.
